The Emotional Lab Sculptural Light

The Emotional Lab White is Hania Jneid’s chemistry-set-inspired floor lamp, beaker-like glass vessels glowing warm atop a slender stainless-steel stand. Modules reconfigure like a chemical reaction, handcrafted by artisans across Spain, Italy and Lebanon.

Interior designer Hania Jneid looked to chemistry sets when designing the Emotional Lab light: a slender metal stand supporting several beaker-like glass vessels that glow with a warm, ambient light, its appearance drawn directly from a chemistry set. Optional metal modules — including a vase and a small storage unit — add material contrast and narrative depth to the piece.

Jneid produced the Emotional Lab light through her own studio, informed by childhood memories of chemistry labs. ‘I am intrigued by the playfulness and underlying interactions between the different elements of the lab system,’ she says. ‘This is translated in the user’s ability to configure different compositions in order to reach a new aesthetic, simulating a new chemical reaction.’

The lamp belongs to the wider Emotional Lab series, which also includes a modular storage system, and is handcrafted by artisans across Spain, Italy and Lebanon. The structure is available in anodised aluminium, brass or stainless steel, with a choice of marble for the base. Hania Jneid is represented by galerie Philia.

Hania Jneid creates objects for fragile memory. Working across ceramics, lighting, painting and furniture design, her practice draws from a Middle Eastern visual inheritance — its opulence, its geometry, its quality of light — and translates it into objects that hold what memory cannot.
